"Eva Larsson, the Secretary General of Victim Support Sweden has passed away at the age of 60 after a period of illness. She will be remembered for her tremendous efforts for victims of crime.

"It is with great sadness we inform you of Eva's passing. Eva has been the driving force in developing Victim Support Sweden and working to ensure that all victims of crime have their rights and needs met. Our thoughts in this difficult time go to her family and close friends," says Sven-Erik Alhem, Chairman of the Board at Victim Support Sweden.

Eva Larsson joined Victim Support Sweden in 1995, initially working as the manager for training within the organisation, then stepped into the role as Secretary General in 2001. Under her leadership, the organisation has developed and now provides support to approximately 70,000 crime victims, witnesses and relatives each year.

Eva Larsson's passing is a great loss for the victim support movement in Sweden. Eva worked to ensure the strengthening of support services in Sweden, both in terms of victims' rights and access to support.
