APAV inaugurated the new Victim Support Office in Oeiras

APAV inaugurated its new Victim Support Office in Oeiras on the September 8th. The ceremony was attended by the President of the APAV, João Lázaro, the Commander of the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon, Superintendente Jorge Maurício and the Mayor of Oeiras, Paulo Vistas.

The new Victim Support Office has the support of the Municipality of Oeiras and the Public Security Police (Divisão Policial de Oeiras COMETLIS) and is located in the PSP Oeiras Police Station, at Rua do Espargal nº 18, 2780-012 Oeiras.

APAV present in the VSE Annual Conference

The Victim Support Europe Annual Conference 2017 took place in Dublin on the May 17th and 18th. The conference was focused on "Victims of Crime: Rights, Needs & Responses" and was co-hosted by Advocates for Victims of Homicide (AdVIC), Victims' Rights Alliance (VRA), Victims Support NI and Victim Support Europe.

At the welcome cocktail, which took place at the Oak Room of the Mansion House, the Lord Mayor of Dublin emphasized the importance of the work of the european victim support organizations. APAV participated in the Conference, promoting panels and workshops, and intervened in several parallel events.

APAV received the visit of the State Secretary for the Citizenship and Equality and the President of CIG

On the 12th of April APAV received the visit of the State Secretary for the Citizenship and Equality, Catarina Marcelino, and the President of the Commission for Gender Equality (CIG), Teresa Fragoso. The visit took place in the facilities of the Victim Support Line and in the Shelter Home Alcipe (Casa de Abrigo Alcipe).

During the visit, the President of APAV, João Lázaro, presented the procedures for victim support and the housing service for women victim of domestic violence and their children.

APAV inaugurated the Victim Support Office of Paços de Ferreira on May 23rd, at a ceremony attended by the president of the APAV, João Lázaro, and the president of the Municipality of Paços de Ferreira, Humberto Brito. The new Victim Support Office has the support of the Municipality of Paços de Ferreira and is located in the City Hall building, in Paços do Concelho - Praça da República, 46 (Room 0.08 B)

APAV is now directly present in 24 counties through its national network of 17 Victim Support Offices, supported by the Victim Support Line - 116 006 (a free European victim support number) and three specialized support sub-networks (CARE - support for children and young people victims of sexual violence; RAFAVH - support for family members and friends of victims of homicide; and UAVMD - migrant and discrimination victims).
