APAV supports the WYD 2023

The World Youth Day (WYD) celebrations have always sought to provide a safe and welcoming space for all visitors.

The 2023 celebrations go further and take an innovative step to reinforce the safety safeguards before, during and after the events –  the JMJ Foundation and APAV signed a cooperation protocol.

This protocol is based on three intervention pillars:

  • Preventing, by providing the tools to anticipate possible situations of risk and violence to as many people as possible

  • Training volunteers, staff and team leaders to improve their knowledge about crime victimisation, promote their awareness for these situations, and enable them to support and refer a victim of crime

  • Supporting, making available information via face-to-face and remote support to any victim of violence, which is free of charge and confidential, and can continue even after the end of the WYD activities when participants return to their homes.
